When Gene Arguijo opened up Arguijo Welding in 1975, little did he know what was in store for his company.  Located in Kermit, Texas, he offered welding services in the beginning, and within a few years had hired a few labor hands and was doing some roustabout work.  His wife, Barbara, was an executive for Southwestern Bell and worked on the business books in a small area she had set aside at their home.   Gene purchased equipment and gang trucks on an as-needed basis, and six years later, they had two yard locations in the town of Kermit, and a few more employees.  Barbara says that the additional equipment needed for office work such as faxes, computers, etc., soon began to take over the house so they set up an office building in one of the yards.  Barbara quit working for the telephone company and devoted herself fulltime to running their business office.  At some point during these these ten years the company name was changed to Arguijo Oilfield Services, Inc. to better represent the services offered.

In 1985, Pete Hibler went to work for Gene and Barbara as a member of a roustabout crew, and of course, at the bottom of the totem pole.  He proceeded to work his way up the ladder and learn the pipeline business inside and out, and in the process, became an excellent heavy equipment operator.  When Gene and Barbara were ready to sell the business and retire in 1997, Pete and his wife Lisa were ready to take the business on and up to the next level.   And the rest, as they say, is history.

Arguijo's normally employs around 80 men and women, all of them interested in the pipeline industry.  They have survived the ups and downs of the "booms" by implementing cunning operational strategies, and by following Pete's simple, but appropriate, rule of thumb - Do what the customer wants and expects, and don't worry about the small stuff.  That simple philosophy has led to the loyalty of many customers over the years, and is one of the keys to Arguijo's success.
